Product Insights Manager, Personalization

The Personalization team’s mission is to match listeners, music and audio in a personal and meaningful way to create great listening experiences. We are constantly working together using state of the art machine learning and applied research to create the best personalized soundtracks that connect people to music and audio.

We are looking for an experienced insight leader to lead and manage a team of Data Scientists and User Researchers in our Personalization organisation at Spotify. As an expert in data, analytics and insight you will be part of the Personalization Insights leads team and will partner with data engineers, product teams and designers to help us define our understanding of music, audio and our listeners to develop how we personalize at Spotify.

What you’ll do:

  • You will lead, manage and grow a global team of Data Scientists and User Researchers within Spotify Personalisation setting focus, strategy and priorities with the team to maximize influence and impact in the organization

  • Contribute to the strategic leadership of the broader Personalization organisation

  • Communicate data-driven insights and recommendations to key stakeholders at the Director, VP and Executive levels

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams of designers, product owners, engineers, marketers, and others across the company passionate about Spotify’s success

  • Work from our offices in New York

Who you are:

  • You have 2+ years of experience as a people-manager

  • You will have at least 5 years relevant applied experience with a degree or higher in economics, psychology, computer science, statistics, or mathematics or another quantitative discipline

  • You have the technical competence to perform and coach team members in more advanced analytics

  • Coding skills for analytics and data extraction (SQL, R, Python, Scala)

  • Experience performing analysis with large datasets

  • Experience building statistical models and running experiments

  • You have experience working with evaluative and formative qualitative research methods and are comfortable planning, scoping, conducting, analysing and communicating research

  • You are a great storyteller and communicator, and can build relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders
