Here is your chance to join our 20 weeks Thesis Intern program and deep dive into one of our exciting theses scopes. You’ll be supervised by our experienced engineers and work with some real challenges within our teams.
It is a great way to see the technology side of a fast-growing company and gain in-depth knowledge of what it is like to be a Spotify employee.
We’re looking for enthusiastic students with a passion for music and an ambition to go far. You’ll need to be on the last year of your studies, currently studying at a Swedish university or campus and be able to start your Master Thesis project in January 2019.
At Spotify, we use A/B tests (statistical hypothesis testing) to decide which new features should be added to our product. We are developing a large scale experimentation platform to empower people to tests new idea efficiently and help them take the right decisions. In this master thesis, you will try machine learning ideas to automatically plan and optimize experiments to improve the workflow of the company.
Courses in: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Machine Learning
Skills: Statistics and Machine Learning
You will be working in the team powering Search across all clients. Search is a core part of Spotify, and key in helping 180M users across 65 markets find the right content. We want a thesis students to explore methods for ranking and query suggestions for keyword-based search looking at signals related to user behaviour and popularity models

Skills: Machine learning systems in Java, Scala or Python
Developer Productivity Insights
Technology Platform insights work to better understand what makes developers productive at Spotify and how we can improve on tools and processes. We’d be thrilled if a sharp master’s student took a stab at analyzing software development-related data in order to understand contributing factors involved in software developer productivity.

Artist & Audience Insights
The DNA team enables Spotify to take decisions and measure performance based on high-quality data. Come to help us explore large-scale graph modelling of the global artist and audience community to uncover underlying structures, understand trends and extract other insights.

Please note in your application which one of these thesis suggestions that you’re passionate about and we will try to match you with the best thesis project for your skillset. Keep in mind that the suggestions are just a first draft and might change until you start in January 2019.
All these projects will be run in Stockholm and we will pay you 35 000 SEK for your thesis (note that we can’t cover things like relocation, housing, or travel expenses).
