Data Scientist: Ads & Markets Analytics – Summer Internship – New York

We’re looking for a Data Scientist: Ads & Markets Analytics Intern to #JoinTheBand. In your internship, you will help drive a data-first culture across the finance, advertising & markets teams in Spotify. Our team is responsible for ensuring that we use data and insights in ensuring that Spotify has a profitable and predictable business. As a Data Scientist for our team, you’ll get the opportunity to work on a wide variety of challenging problems to use data & insights to impact various initiatives that drives Spotify’s monetization.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist with building and refining models for Spotify’s user forecast engine
  • Explore the listening behaviour of Spotify free users to build scalable insights tools to help articulate Spotify’s value proposition to brands
  • Research on our Ad serving data to uncover insights to drive our Ads monetization strategy
  • Understand and predict the health of various Markets to help drive their regional strategies and deep dive into regional trends to uncover the root cause
  • Assist with forecasting and supporting the launch of New Markets

Who you are:

  • You are currently/recently graduated in science, computer science, statistics, economics, mathematics, or similar quantitative discipline
  • You have an interest in a media, ad tech, finance, or consulting role performing data analysis
  • You are a communicative person that values building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
  • You have a understanding of numbers and business models, and some exposure in extracting insights
  • You are capable of tackling very loosely defined problems
  • It is preferred that you have the technical competence to perform data extraction and analysis:
    • Data analysis (using R/Python)
    • Coding (Using Scala/Python)
    • SQL 
    • Data Visualization experience (e.g., Tableau, Qliksense)

The Intern Gig:

Spotify is looking for enthusiastic students/recent graduates with a passion for music and an ambition to go far. This isn’t just any internship! Our paid internship program will give you the chance to gain in-depth knowledge of what it’s like to be a Spotify employee as well as get the opportunity to see the technology side of a fast growing company! Our summer internships will last for 10 weeks this summer and start in the beginning of June.

The deadline to apply is January 31st, 2018 at 11:59 PM, EST. You can expect the following application timeline:

  • Late January, 2017 – Mid February, 2018:Application Review
  • Late February, 2018 – March, 2018: Interviews
  • March, 2018 – April, 2018: Offers given out
  • June, 2018: Intern program start
